Director Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Jennifer Seminerio, MD, FACG, is the Director of Inflammatory Bowel Disease at Advent Orlando. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and fellowship in Gastroenterology at UPMC in Pittsburgh, PA, where she also served as chief fellow. Her research focuses on database analysis and complementary and alternative medicine. She was previously the Director of Inflammatory Bowel Disease at USF Health where she was promoted to associate professor of medicine after building a stand-alone IBD centerr opening March 2023. She has now taken on the role of Director of Inflammatory Bowel Disease at Advent Health Orlando. The newly build IBD center is also home to her intestinal ultrasound program. Dr. Seminerio’s professional experience includes partnership with the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation where she has served on multiple national committees including chairing the Junior Investigator Task Force, REACH, Women in IBD Task Force, Patient Education Task Force and most recently the Government and Industry Affairs committee. Regional she has chaired the patient education committee for the Southeast region. She is the Chair of the Florida Healthcare Advisory Committee for the Florida Crohns and Colitis Chapter and serves as a board member of her local chapter. She has served for ASGE on the DDW plenary and ARIA committees and legislative and policy committees for ACG. Her advocacy work is extremely important representing Florida providers at Day on the Hill as well advocacy work with FGS and FRS societies. Additionally, she has worked and continues to work with outside fellowship programs in Florida to build IBD based knowledge. She recently co-chaired the inaugural introduction to bowel ultrasound at the annual 2024 FGS meeting. Her ongoing passion and drive within inflammatory bowel disease will persist as she continues to grow the IBD Center at Advent Health and beyond.
