Rosemarie L. Fisher, MD, FACG, received her MD from Tufts University School of Medicine, completed residency in IM at Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, NY, and trained in GI at the Royal Free Hospital, London and Yale University. She joined the faculty of Yale SOM in 1975, became Professor of Medicine (1992); Chief of Gastroenterology at the VAMC, West Haven, CT (1977-87); Program Director for IM at Yale New Haven Hospital/Yale SOM (1987-98) and Primary Care IM at Yale (1989-91); Designated Institutional Official/Director/Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education at YNHH/YSM (1998 - 2016). She has held multiple leadership positions including the Association of Program Directors of Internal Medicine (APDIM), Chair of the Group on Resident Affairs, the Council of Faculty and Academic Societies and the Board of Directors of the AAMC, and member and Chair of the IM RRC of the ACGME. She has received multiple awards including the ACGME “Courage to Lead” Award, was the first recipient of the Rosemarie L. Fisher. MD Award for Leadership in Graduate Medical Education and the Connecticut Chapter of the ACP Rosemarie L. Fisher, MD, MACP Woman Leadership Award. She became a Fellow of the ACG and a member of the Board of Trustees, and a Fellow of the AGA, the AASLD, the RCP and a Master in the ACP. She was a member and Chair of the GI Drugs Advisory Committee of the FDA and the Gastroenterology Section of the ABIM. She received the Janssen Award for Outstanding Achievement in Clinical Gastroenterology, the "2008 Outstanding AGA's Women in Science;" the Dema Daley Founder’s Award of APDIM, and the Female Physician Leadership Award named in her honor. Dr. Fisher has served as a visiting professor at over 20 different institutions, published more than 100 articles, chapters, editorials, and abstracts, and given over 450 invited presentations.
