Rachel Issaka, MD, MAS, is a Gastroenterologist, Associate Professor, and the Kathryn Surace-Smith Endowed Chair in Health Equity Research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (FHCC) and the University of Washington (UW). She is the Director of the FHCC/UW Medicine Population Health Colorectal Cancer Screening Program. Dr. Issaka’s research focuses on expanding access to colorectal cancer screening and closing outcome gaps in medically underserved communities. Her work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the American College of Gastroenterology. Through bold, equity-driven interventions, she leads efforts to save lives by broadening access to care, shaping health policy, and reimagining the future of cancer prevention. Dr. Issaka is a nationally recognized leader and a powerful voice for innovation, inclusion, and action in medicine.
