Amit Rastogi, MD, specializes in therapeutic endoscopy. His clinical interests include pancreatico-biliary diseases (pancreatic cancer, acute and chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic cystic neoplasms, cholangiocarcinoma and bile ducts stones), early detection of gastrointestinal cancers, diagnosis and staging of various gastrointestinal malignancies, screening for colon cancer, Barrett's esophagus, and third space endoscopy. He has extensive experience in and is nationally known for the endoscopic detection of early gastrointestinal cancer and precancerous lesions in the esophagus, colon, pancreas, and bile duct. He specializes in complex endoscopic procedures like ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound with fine needle aspiration, endoscopic mucosal resection of large colon polyps and dysplastic Barrett's esophagus, esophageal/enteral/colonic stenting, endoscopic submucosal dissection and POEM. Dr. Rastogi's research interests include colonoscopy for the detection of polyps, Barrett's esophagus, and endoscopic ultrasound with fine needle aspiration. He has conducted several randomized controlled trials evaluating new colonoscopy technologies for improving adenoma detection as well as characterizing polyp histology with advanced imaging. He has been one of the pioneers in the field of endoscopic histology and has developed endoscopic patterns that can enable the gastroenterologist to make a diagnosis of polyp pathology real time during colonoscopy.
