David E. Kaplan, MD, MSc, is a Professor of Medicine and Director of Hepatology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently engaged in both epidemiologic, translational, and prospective trials. Most notably,y he is the national co-PI on a VA Merit-funded prospective clinical trial evaluating the impact of statins on the natural history of cirrhosis. He has held multiple committee leadership roles in the AASLD, is an active clinician and mentor. He is currently serving on the AASLD Nominating Committee and as Chair of the Liver Cancer SIG, and recently co-chaired the AASLD’s Practice Guidance writing committee related to Portal Hypertension and Management of Varices.
