Nirav Thosani, MD, MHA, is a renowned gastroenterologist and interventional endoscopist at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, where he holds the Atilla Ertan MD Endowed Chair in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition. He is also the Director of Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology as well as the Director of the Center for Interventional Gastroenterology at UTHealth (iGUT). Dr. Thosani’s clinical interests include pancreatitis, pancreatic cysts, pancreatic cancer, gallstones, bile duct diseases, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ablation therapy, and endoscopic anti-reflux therapy. He has pioneered an EUS-guided radiofrequency ablation procedure to treat pancreatic cancer and has published over 200 peer-reviewed manuscripts. He is also chair of the ASGE Standards of Practice Clinical Guideline Committee and has drafted multiple clinical practice guidelines in the field of gastrointestinal endoscopy.
