Philip Okafor, MD, MPH, FACG, is a general gastroenterologist and health services researcher in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Mayo Clinic, Florida. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine and a member of the ACG Education Affairs Committee. He is most passionate about mentoring underrepresented minorities interested in gastroenterology and is a winner of the Morehouse School of Medicine DREAM (Digestive Research and Education Excellence Aimed at Minorities Research) award for research and education excellence. His research interests focus on early detection of pancreatic cancer, identifying drivers of high/low-value care; disparities in access, outcomes, and resource utilization among patients with gastrointestinal and liver diseases.
