Neha Jakhete, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine where she practices as a transplant hepatologist. She attended a combined undergraduate and medical school program at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, followed by residency and fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital, with advanced training in hepatology and liver transplantation. Her clinical and research interests include alcohol-associated liver disease, cirrhosis, liver cancer, and liver transplantation. Dr. Jakhete is an active member of the ACG and AASLD. She has served on the ACG Patient Care Committee (2017–2020) and the AASLD Continuing Medical Education Committee (2020-2023), and she is currently a member of the ACG Women in Gastroenterology Committee (2023-present). She continues to contribute to education and professional development initiatives, including the ACG Ergonomics Workshop (2025), the NBME Invitational Conference for Educators (2025), and as Moderator for the Breakfast Round Table at the ACG Eastern Regional Conference (2025).
