Emmanuel Coronel, MD, is a Gastroenterologist and Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopist at MD Anderson Cancer Center. After completing medical school, Dr. Coronel was a Post Doctoral Fellow at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School. His research was focused on pancreatic diseases and the development of clinical research teaching programs across Latin America. He is the founder and co-director of the International Research Initiative which is a comprehensive educational program designed for individuals who want to pursue rigorous clinical or basic science research careers. He completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital and his Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Chicago where he served as a Chief Fellow from 2015-2016. Dr. Coronel pursued an Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy Fellowship at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center where he now serves as faculty and Medical Director of Endoscopy. He has multiple peer-reviewed publications, awards and serves as a reviewer for multiple medical journals including Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and Video GIE.
