Nutritional Therapy for IBD: Advancing Evidence-Based Nutrition in Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis Who We Are Nutritional Therapy for IBD is a nonprofit founded in 2019 by healthcare providers and parents of a child with Crohn’s disease. Our mission is to make evidence-based nutrition an integral part of IBD care by providing clear, practical, and reliable resources for both patients and healthcare professionals. Why Nutrition Matters Nutrition plays a critical role in IBD management, yet patients and providers often face barriers: limited clinical guidance, conflicting information, and lack of accessible tools. We work to close these gaps by translating complex research into resources that support shared decision-making and improve quality of life. Our Key Initiatives IBD Nutrition Navigator – An online platform that summarizes dietary strategies based on published evidence, helping patients and providers explore nutrition options with clarity and confidence. Educational Resources – Handouts, guides, infographics, and conference research summaries tailored for both patients and clinicians. Recipe Collection – A growing library of culturally diverse, IBD-friendly recipes developed with dietitians to make dietary therapy practical and sustainable. Professional Engagement – Presentations at leading meetings (DDW, ECCO, Crohn’s & Colitis Congress, ACG), webinars, and collaborations with gastroenterologists, dietitians, and nurses. Patient & Family Support – Virtual program (launching Fall of 2025), offering community connection for those making medical dietary changes. Our Impact Reaching thousands of patients and professionals in over 100 countries through our website and resources. Sharing timely research updates from major IBD conferences to thousands of patients and clinicians. Established partnerships with leading experts to expand understanding and acceptance of nutrition as part of IBD care. Looking Ahead We aim to expand our Nutrition Navigator, grow our recipe library, increase our educational programs, and strengthen patient support programming—continuing to bridge the gap between research and practice. Our Commitment Nutrition is not a replacement for medical or surgical therapies, but it is a vital complement. Nutritional Therapy for IBD is dedicated to empowering patients and equipping healthcare providers with the knowledge and tools to make nutrition an effective part of comprehensive IBD management.
