Phillip K Henderson, DO, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Surgery and Medical Director of Liver Transplantation at the University of South Alabama. He also holds a joint faculty appointment as an Instructor of Surgery with the Division of Transplant Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He received his undergraduate degree with highest honors in cell and molecular at Troy University and earned his medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences where he graduated with highest honors. He completed his internship, residency, and fellowship from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine where he also served as the chief medical resident. He underwent fellowship training in transplant hepatology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Henderson is a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Dr. Henderson has authored articles and book chapters on a variety of topics in general gastroenterology and hepatology. Dr. Henderson's research interest include general hepatology as well as outreach care for evaluation, management, and follow-up care for hepatic transplantation and hepatobiliary malignancies.
