Kelly Burak, MD, MSc (Epid), is Professor of Medicine in the Divisions of Gastroenterology & Hepatology and Transplant Medicine at the Cumming School of Medicine in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. His clinical and research interests include hepatocellular carcinoma and liver transplantation. He served as the Director of Southern Alberta Liver Transplant Clinic for nearly 20 years and is cross-appointed to the Departments of Medicine and Oncology. Dr. Burak is actively involved in medical education, as served as the Associate Dean of Continuing Medical Education and Professional Development at the University of Calgary for five years and is now the Assistant Dean of the Physician Learning Program (PLP). He has won numerous teaching awards, including the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology Young Educator Award in 2010, the Canadian Association for the Study of the Liver Education Award in 2020, and the Medical Council of Canada Outstanding Achievement Award for the Evaluation of Physician Competence in 2021 for his work with the PLP. He currently serves as the Chair of the Train The Trainers Committee for the World Gastroenterology Organisation.
