Luis Lara, MD, is Professor of Medicine and Director of Digestive Diseases at the University of Cincinnati. Originally from Ecuador, he is proud to be an Ohioan. He is a graduate of Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico, and trained at Northeast Ohio Medical University, Wake Forest University, and Mayo Clinic. He has been involved with pancreas center leadership at the University of Texas Southwestern and Baylor University in Dallas, Texas, Cleveland Clinic Florida, and the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He is a member of the University of Cincinnati Pancreato-Biliary program and the UC Cancer Center. Clinical and research interests are centered around all diseases of the pancreas, and especially acute and chronic pancreatitis, and pancreatic islet autotransplantation as well as small bowel endoscopy and GI bleeding.
