Alan Barkun, MD, CM, MSc (Clin Epi), FACG, is full Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at McGill University. He is recipient of the DG Kinnear Chair in Gastroenterology, holding a medical degree and an MSc in epidemiology and biostatistics. Recipient of many national and international awards, Dr. Barkun has published over 800 peer-reviewed articles and given over 600 national/international presentations on digestive endoscopic technologies, with an emphasis on methodological, clinical and cost-effectiveness trials in upper gastrointestinal bleeding, bilio-pancreatic diseases, colorectal cancer screening, and artificial intelligence in colonoscopy. He is the Director of Digestive Endoscopy and co-director of Quality Management in the division of gastroenterology of the McGill University Health Centre, and is Chair of the Quebec colorectal cancer screening implementation committee.
