Andy Tau, MD, is a board certified and fellowship trained gastroenterologist. Prior to joining Austin Gastroenterology, Dr. Tau graduated from Harvard University and completed internal medicine residency and GI fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. He served both as chief resident in internal medicine and chief fellow in gastroenterology. While with Austin Gastroenterology, he was named the 2021 Travis County Medical Society (TCMS) Young Physician of the Year. Dr. Tau is published in recognized gastroenterology journals and has presented at multiple meetings at both the local and national level. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology by the ABIM. He has a unique interest in hemostasis and endoscopic tissue closure. Dr. Tau was born in Corpus Christi, TX, and is a first generation Chinese American. He played football into college, now enjoying it as a spectator. He also enjoys sharing and learning about new endoscopic techniques on #GiTwitter and spending time with his wife and two children around Austin. His parents immigrated to the United States from Taiwan. Dr. Tau speaks Spanish and Chinese (Mandarin).
