Jacob Skeans, MD, is a gastroenterologist and IBD specialist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where he provides comprehensive care for a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions. His clinical focus includes inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Barrett’s esophagus, GERD, celiac disease, and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. He is dedicated to delivering personalized, evidence-based care in a patient-centered environment. Dr. Skeans earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 2013. He completed his internal medicine residency at The Ohio State University in 2016 and went on to pursue a gastroenterology fellowship at Case Western Reserve University- Metrohealth in 2019. He has been on faculty as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Ohio State University since 2019. At Ohio State, Dr. Skeans has an active clinical practice as well as participates in clinical trials, clinical research, and with medical education. He is the program director for the gastroenterology fellowship at Ohio State and participates in many educational activities with OSU's medical students, having received recognition for this commitment with multiple teaching awards. He also contributes to research, with interests in clinical trials in IBD at the Ohio State IBD center, as well as colorectal cancer screening and reflux-related disorders.
