Anna M. Buchner, MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine in Philadelphia. Dr. Buchner sees patients with inflammatory bowel disease and general gastrointestinal diseases at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine and the Radnor Penn Medicine Clinic. In addition, she has been involved in clinical research focusing of the role of advanced endoscopic imaging systems (high resolution narrow band imaging, chromoendoscopy, confocal endomicroscopy, endocytoscopy) for the detection and treatment of early cancers and pre-cancerous lesions of the gastrointestinal tract. These include the utilization of the newest methods to detect and characterize early precancerous changes in patients with long-standing inflammatory bowel disease and to guide their endoscopic therapy.
