Shervin Shafa, MD, FACG, is a practicing Attending Gastroenterologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the MGUH/ Georgetown University Medical Center. Dr. Shafa's work and interests involve the interventional management of esophageal disorders. These include management of Barrett's esophagus and its eradication, esophageal cancer, achalasia management, esophageal strictures, and management of reflux symptoms. Endoscopic skills include cryoablation, radiofrequency ablation, EMR for Barrett's esophagus, esophageal stenting and EUS for esophageal cancer, esophageal dilation for complicated strictures of the esophagus, transoral incisionless fundoplication procedure for reflux, and Zenker's myotomy, mucosal defect closure techniques for leaks and perforations, pneumatic dilation for achalasia with some early experience in POEM and third spacing.
