Borko Nojkov, MD, received his medical degree from the “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” University in Skopje, Macedonia. He went on to complete internal medicine training and gastroenterology fellowship at the William Beaumont Hospital/Oakland University School of Medicine in Royal Oak, Michigan. Since completing this fellowship, Dr. Nojkov joined the University of Michigan faculty, where he is Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology. Dr. Nojkov’s clinical interest is primarily focused on disorders of gut-brain interaction (DGBI) and he also practices general gastroenterology. Dr. Nojkov has a deep and abiding interest in the clinical and translational research relevant to patients with DGBI. His research included investigations of the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of various DGBI, including functional dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome and chronic constipation. He has received research funding from institutional, federal and industry sources, and published his work in many of the leading gastroenterology journals. Dr. Nojkov is currently focused to further extend his research and clinical efforts, ultimately aiming to visibly improve the care and clinical outcomes of patients with DGBI.
